Local Beers for Your Next Tailgate

In honor of National Tailgate Day (Saturday, Sept. 4) and the kick-off to football season, we reached out to local breweries to ask them to recommend a beer perfect for your next tailgate!

Ironhield Brewing: Heroes Helles
Bavarian Golden Lager
4.8% ABV”Our Heroes Helles is a crisp, full-flavored beer with a slight hop character, but not bitter. Pale and golden in appearance, this beer is light and refreshing with a sweet honey-like aroma. Sitting at just 4.8% ABV, Heroes Helles won’t hold you back from catching the next big game at the tailgate! #shieldsup!” — Adam Schurlknight, Sales Manager

StillFire Brewing: Glory Haze
New England IPA
6.9% ABV
“Glory Haze is everything you like about the Haze Craze in a glass! Clocking in at 6.9%, this Hazy IPA features a huge aroma of citrus, passion fruit, guava, and even lime that carry over into an explosion of juicy deliciousness!” — Lizzy James, Marketing

Scofflaw Brewing Co.: Basement Light
IPA
4% ABV
120 calories
“We took all of our favorite things about our Basement IPA and made it lower calorie and lower alcohol! Dry hopped with Citra and brewed with flaked oats to give it a full bodied mouthfeel, this is a session IPA that’s light in ABV, coming in at 4%, with only 120 calories, lower carbs, and still has the full IPA flavor we all know and love! Why is this my favorite beer to tailgate with? Because it is a lower ABV, light IPA that still has all the full-bodied flavor of an IPA – and it doesn’t make me feel too full or too ‘adult’ when I’ve had a few of them, if you catch my drift. Basement Light is refreshing, citrusy, and so easy to drink! This is my perfect ‘all day’ drinker.” — Kristina Kroon, Marketing

Georgia Beer Co.: Field Party
Blonde Ale
5% ABV
“This all-American ale is great at the lake, by the beach, or gathered around a fire with friends. It is crisp and refreshing, with a combination of body and flavor to remind you this beer is handmade. A simple yet precise blend of American 2-row, Carapils, flaked maize and Willamette hops result in a smooth, clean finish. This beer is perfect for tailgating because it is light, refreshing, and sessionable. It tastes great from the can or poured in a solo cup or glass. Heck, there’s even an open tailgate on the can! Cheers!” — Chris Jones, Owner
